The first use downloads a ~25MB model file, which is then cached by your browser for instant subsequent runs. After cutout, export a transparent PNG for design compositing, or fill the background with white, blue, or red. Portrait photos yield the best results, and photos with a clear subject usually work well too. Processing is watermark-free, unlimited, and completely free. No. The segmentation model runs locally in your browser and images never leave your device. The first use downloads a ~25MB model into the browser cache; no re-download afterwards.
Why is the first run slow?
The first use downloads the MODNet model (~25MB) and initializes it, typically 3-10 seconds depending on connection speed. Once cached, each photo takes about 1-3 seconds.
Which photos work best?
Portrait photos work best — the model is optimized for people. Pets and product photos with a clear subject usually give good results too; complex scenes with multiple subjects may need manual touch-up.
Can I change the background color after cutout?
Yes. Pick the target background before processing: transparent (PNG alpha), white, blue, or red. For ID photos, use our ID Photo tool to also meet official size specifications.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, on mainstream mobile browsers. The first model download may take a while on slow connections, so the first use is best done over Wi-Fi.
